Taylor Judge Sentences Tampa Man Busted For Sex Trafficking Minors To Over 24 Years In Federal Prison

A federal judge in Tampa has sentenced a Tampa man busted for sex trafficking minors a hefty prison sentence.

U.S. District Judge Virginia Hernandez Covington has sentenced Jessie Thomas Taylor to serve 24 years and 4 months in federal prison. Taylor pleaded guilty pleaded to the charges on June 6, 2025. Covington wanted to send a statement to the young men out there to all the wannabe Pimp of the Year contestants across the US.

Prosecutor alleged Taylor began trafficking the victim from April 2021 and he continued to do so through December 2022. Taylor was also actively involved in promoting the sexual services of a 16-year-old victim.

Taylor created postings on adult escort websites where he set up and managed communications. He also reserved accommodations for sexual encounters and collected profits from the minor’s activities.

Taylor did this despite the inexorable fact his actions perpetuated immense and enduring wounds upon the victim. Trauma counselors are now helping the victim for the long lasting emotional trauma brought on by being trafficked.

The multiple jurisdictional investigation was a collaborative effort of the Federal Bureau of Investigation alongside the Tampa Police Department.

Assistant United States Attorney Courtney Derry helmed of the prosecution.

Prosecutors say Taylor’s conviction underscores a larger initiative.

The Department of Justice began Project Safe Childhood in 2006. Since then, the Department of Justice embarked on this venture to staunch the tide against child sexual exploitation and abuse. The DOJ marshalled federal, state, local law enforcement agencies to work together to seek out sex traffickers and prosecute them. Most importantly, they aim to bring some semblance of justice to the survivors. In addition, the DOJ’s Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section wants to assist victims in their healing.
