Suburban Detroit Doctor Stephen Mason Found Guilty Of Lewd Acts In Front Of 76 Year-Old Patient
A Macomb County Circuit Court found suburban Detroit doctor Stephen Mason guilty of lewd acts. Prosecutors accused Mason of making sexual advances to a 76-year-old Sterling Heights woman in her home. When she rejected his advances he began masturbating in front of her.
The jury found Mason guilty of aggravated indecent exposure and assault in the 2024 incident. Court documents show the jury deliberated for one hour before convicting Mason on September 10, 2025.
Court records list the charges against Mason as misdemeanors. The prosecutors say the assault charge is a 93-day misdemeanor. They also stated the other offense is a two-year misdemeanor. The court has scheduled a sentencing hearing for October 30th.
Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in the release:
Prosecutors said Mason befriended the woman on Facebook drove the woman. He drove her home from a hair appointment on Aug. 1, 2024. She invited him into her home for a soft drink. While in her living room, he made sexual advances toward her. However, she rejected him. Prosecutors allege he then proceeded to masturbate in front of her.
The prosecutor’s office said the first time they met face-to-face was when Mason drove her home from the hair appointment. Sterling Heights Police Chief Bastianelli said the salon was in Warren.
Bastianelli said the woman asked Mason to leave after the incident. She then reported the incident to police the same day. Bastianelli stated the incident had nothing to do with Mason’s employment as a doctor.
