Prosecutors Say Suburban Chicago Chiropractor Used Hidden Cameras To Record Over 180 Nude Images Of Mostly Under Age Patients
Prosecutors in Illinois have charged suburban Chicago chiropractor David Hanson of secretly recording nude videos of nearly 200 patients. Authorities also say Hanson’s victims ranged from young children to adults.
The 43-year-old Hanson is owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic in Batavia. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said he is now an alleged predator facing multiple felony charges.
Investigators say the youngest victim was three years old.
A Kane County judge signed off on asearch warrant last week. As a result, police searched his home and his chiropractic office. The Batavia Police Department and the Child Exploitation Unit of the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office jointly conducted the investigation.
Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office issued a press release stating:
“Many of the recordings appear to be taken from a red light room used for red light and near-infrared light therapy. Hanson made the video recordings using hidden cameras secretly placed throughout his chiropractic office. Hanson was also found to be possessing and disseminating multiple videos containing child sexual abuse material that were unrelated to his chiropractic practice. There were multiple devices that were in the therapy room, and they were hidden behind vents or fans so that they would not be seen by the patients who are seeking treatment.”
Law enforcement uncovered 180 videos as part of their investigation. So far, the earliest video dates back to 2017. Forensic analysts are now trying to uncover more information.
The court has ordered Hanson to appear in court on November 10th.
The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said Hanson is facing the following charges:
- Producing Child Pornography, Class X felony (5 counts)
- Disseminating Child Pornography, Class X felony (3 counts)
- Possessing Child Pornography, Class 2 felony (6 counts)
- Unauthorized Video Recording of a Minor Through/Under the Clothes, Class 3 felony (3 counts)
Officials have asked any potential victims to call (630) 444-3322. They can also email SAOVictimHotline@KaneCountyIL.gov
A half dozen civil lawsuits have already been filed against the disgraced chiropractor.
