New York City Teacher’s Aide Possessed Thousands of Videos and Photographs Depicting Sexual Abuse of Children
Federal prosecutors have indicted New York City teacher’s aide Alejandro F. Santos with transportation of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Law enforcement arrested Santos in July 2025. Santos was employed as a teacher’s aide at at a Bronx public school for children with disabilities.
United States Attorney Joseph Nocella told the media:
Prosecutors allege on July 15, 2025, Santos arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport on a flight from the Dominican Republic.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Santos pursuant to a law enforcement alert. The alert said Santos was likely in possession of child sex abuse material. As a result, officers escorted Santos to an inspection area and provided the officers with his iPhone.
An examination of the phone also revealed thousands of photographs of kiddie porn including sexual abuse with infants and toddlers. Santos had worked for the New York City Department of Education for 23 years.
The charges in the indictment are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Santos faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for transporting child sexual abuse material.
