Police Arrest Retired Michigan Doctor Who Tried To Filet His Girlfriend With A Knife While She Watched TV
Police have arrested a drunk retired Michigan doctor and knife enthusiast. Authorities say he carved a six-inch laceration into his girlfriend’s neck. They say James Michael Doyle then drove away from the scene of the crime.
Prosecutors say the retired Michigan doctor was intoxicated when he slit his girlfriend’s neck with a knife on September 23rd.
The woman suffered from a six-inch slash of six inches from her ear down the trapezius muscles. Police found her in the couple’s Taylor, Michigan home.
Authorities said she was watching TV on the couch when Doyle attacked her. The victim said she managed to call 911 soon after she was cut.
The woman reportedly told dispatchers that her boyfriend ‘fileted’ her with the knife.
The woman was delirious from blood loss when police arrived and Doyle was missing from the scene.
The cops reportedly found the 65-year-old in a car miles away from the house.
Prosecutors have charged Doyle with domestic violence and felonious assault. They also charged him with assault to do great bodily harm less than murder and assault with a dangerous weapon. In addition, they also charged him with operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .17 or more.
Officials say the couple had been together for four years. They also say the couple had previous domestic violence issues but never reported them.
Police also the victim survived the incident and is recovering in a suburban Detroit hospital
Authorities reported that the drunk doctor was also a knife collector.
At this time there is no reported motive behind Doyle’s actions. Police reportedly speculated that there may have been an argument beforehand.
