Psycho Michigan Dad Shoots Up Family While Waiting Sentencing On Indecent Exposure Conviction
Prosecutors in St. Clair County, Michigan have charged Psycho Michigan Dad Jeff Smerer with several charges. They include open murder and assault for allegedly shooting his children Kayleb, 17, Bentley, 13, and Kinzely, 12.
Police arrested last month after allegedly shooting his three children.
Police say he killed his son Kayleb on September 11th in their Port Huron, Michigan home. Smerer’s other two children, 13-year-old son Bentley and 12-year-old daughter Kinzely survived the shooting.
Police did not name the children in the police statement. However, their identities were confirmed by The Detroit News and ABC 7.
District Court records indicate Smerer was scheduled to be sentenced for an indecent exposure conviction that same day.
The court convicted Smerer for exposing his genitals to a child in the care of his family’s daycare.
Psycho Michigan Dad Goes On Shooting Frenzy
A fmaily member told ABC 7 in Detroit:
Port Huron police were notified of reports of a shooting around 6 a.m. that morning. Whey they arrived at the home, they found the three children shot in the home.
WPHM reports Smerer tried to take his own life after the shootings.
Prosecutors have charged Smerer with open murder and two counts of assault with intent to murder. In addition, prosecutors have charged him with two counts of first-degree child abuse and multiple counts of felony firearm use.
Police also say Smerer’s wife and their 20-year-old son intervened. The two were able to stop him from committing further violence.
Prosecutors allege Smerer confessed to the crime and told police he had been planning the attack for a week.
