Korean Actress And Influencer Yoon Ji-ah Murdered By Crazed Fan. He Stuffed Her Body In A Suitcase And Dumped It In Remote Mountain Range
Korean authorities say a crazed fan murdered Korean actress and influencer Yoon Ji-ah. He then left her body in a suitcase in the mountains.
The suspect brutally strangled Yoon Ji-ah to death on September 11th. Police found her body abandoned in Muju, North Jeolla Province.
Investigators believe she died within just 30 minutes after her final livestream ended. She had been filming in Yeongjong Island, Incheon. Police found her body in the Muju Mountains three hours away.
This led authorities to suspect the internet personality may have encountered danger almost immediately after ending the live broadcast. Yoon had over 300,000 followers on TikTok.
Local reports say the suspect in the murder case is a man in his 50s. However, police have only identified him by the surname Choi.
Suspect May Have Had A Huge Investment Tied To The Dead Influencer
Choi reportedly claimed to be the CEO of an IT company located in South Korea. Authorities say he had approached the influencer under the pretense of a business partnership and promising to increase her followers.
Police say Choi was well-known on video platforms. Soap Central also says Choi has also earned the title of a ‘big-spending VIP’ under his nickname ‘Black cat’.
Korean media say the platform where Ji-ah would host her livestreams employed a ranking system for its users. The platform based their ranking on their level of monetary support for the creators.
The higher-level ranks required enormous spending. Choi reportedly reached level 56 which costs $71,000.
Korean entertainment outlet Kbizoom claimed that Ji-ah had wanted to terminate her business deal with Choi.
CCTV footage showed Choi kneeling and begging before her a day before her death. It appeared he was pleading for something.
Investigators now suspect that his financial involvement and personal circumstances led to the crime. Police also allege Choi may have been facing massive debt.
Witnesses reported that they saw Choi dragging a large suitcase from his house before driving to Muju’s mountains.
Consequently, Police arrested Choi just 12 hours after the discovery of the body. He initially denied the charges upon arrest. However, he eventually confessed to killing the influencer.
