A Florida Man Is Indicted By Federal Authorities For Attempting To Entice An 11-Year-Old For Sex Activity
A Florida man named William Rand Paige Junior has been indicted. Federal authorities allege the 50-year-old attempted to entice a 11-year-old child for sexual activity. The indictment has has sent shockwaves through the town of Fernandina Beach.
Federal authorities allege Paige of using his cellphone and the internet in a scheme lure a minor.
Paige faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years with a potential sentence of life in prison. Additionally, he may also be subject to a lifetime of supervised release.
Paige was arrested on December 18, 2023. The arrest was the result of an intensive undercover operation by the FBI in Jacksonville. During this operation, an undercover agent posed as an individual who had access to an 11-year-old child.
It was on a specific online social messaging app where the agent’s fictitious persona attracted Paige. Paige used the username “ah..904.”
From November 29, 2023 to December 11, 2023, Paige engaged in a series of disturbing online conversations and email exchanges with the agent. Paige expressed his desire to meet the “child” for sexual activity in the conversations. In addition, Paige sent several videos depicting the sexual abuse of young children to the undercover agent.
FBI agents executed a federal search warrant at Paige’s residence on December 18, 2023. As a result of the search of his home, the FBI arrested Paige. A federal judge ordered Paige detained pending trial.
It’s important to note that an indictment is not a conviction but a formal charge. As per the legal system, Paige remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice. This project aims to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
