Suburban Detroit Prosecutors Say A Michigan Cop Forcibly Fondled A Female Cadet
Prosecutors in suburban Detroit have charged a Farmington Hills cop Michael Rybinski. They say the Michigan cop forcibly fondled a female cadet. The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Rybinski with sexual assault. The incident involved one of the department’s female cadets.
Prosecutors have charged Rybinski with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. In addition, prosecutors have charged him with three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. Rybinski faces up to 17 years in prison.
Rybinski asked the cadet for a ride because he was drunk. Once in the car, he tried to kiss and grope her as she pleaded that he stop.
The police report says Rybinski wouldn’t leave the car when the cadet took him to his destination. He then proceeded to forcibly fondled the victim again.
The Oakland County Prosecutors Office says the cadet reported the incident the next day to Farmington Hills police. The Farmington Hills Police then referred to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office to investigate.
Rybinski’s attorney Colin McLaughlin says he’s innocent.
A judge released Rybinski from jail after he paid 10% of his 20,000 bond.
The Department immediately placed Rybinski on administrative duty when the cadet filed the report. Farmington Hills police then began its own internal investigation.
However, that soon changed. When City officials later placed Rybinski on paid leave pending the court case.
