Invisalign Inventor Is Accused Of Beating Woman During Sex

Woman Tells Congress That Multimillionaire Invisalign Inventor Beat Her During Sex And That He Tried To Have Sex With Her When She Was 13 Years-Old

A young woman has stepped forward to accuse the multi-millionaire Invisalign inventor of physical abuse.

Tatiana Spottiswoode has also accused  Zia Chishti of trying to have sex with her when she was 13 years-old.

Chishti is also the founder and CEO of a software company named Afiniti. 

Zia Chishti allegedly beat the 28-year-old Spottiswoode while having sex with her during a 2017 trip to Brazil in 2017.   

Spottiswoode gave testimony to the House Judiciary Committee that Chishti told her, “he should have had sex with me when I was 13 years old.”

Congressional Democrats are attempt to pass a bill to end forced arbitration. 

The Invisalign Inventor Had High Profile People On His Payroll

Former British Prime Minister David Cameron announced he has stepped down from his position at Afiniti. Cameron joined Afiniti as the chairman of its advisory board in 2019. 

A source close to Cameron told The Daily Telegraph, he did not know about the allegations until they were aired in Congress.

The claims threaten to create a new controversy for the former prime minister following the collapse of finance company Greensill. 

Earlier this year, Cameron escaped punishment despite privately lobbying ministers in efforts to secure access to an emergency coronavirus loan scheme for Greensill Capital before its collapse.

Woman Accuses Invisalign Inventor Of Being A Sexual Predator

Spottiswoode said she met Chishti when she was 12 or 13. She met him again when she was a student at Columbia Law School. Chishti who was listed among the top 50 bachelors in America by People Magazine in 2001. 

She told the House Judiciary Committee:

When I was in my senior year of college, in December 2014, Chishti, who was 43 at the time, invited me on a ski trip. I was 21.

I initially declined but he insisted he wanted me to meet his nephew. So I agreed. I later learned that the nephew, who never showed up, didn’t exist.’

The trip was designed to groom me. Chishti told me he had feelings and showed me an extravagant lifestyle.

Spottiswoode Rejects Chishti’s Sexual Advances

Spottiswoode said she rejected him. However, she eventually dated him about five times over 10 weeks before eventually breaking off the relationship.

Spottiswoode also stated that months later, Chishti encouraged her to join his company. He presented her a rosy picture of a great career opportunity. Chishti then told her he did not expect a sexual relationship.

Spottiswoode stated she signed an employment agreement when she joined the company in 2016. The agreement included an arbitration agreement with a strong confidentiality clause.

Spottiswoode told the commitee of the toxic work environment at Afiniti. She described ocellated between pressurizing me for sex and punishing her.

She also stated that:

During a work meeting in Dubai, he put his hands under my pants and grabbed my butt in front of co-workers.

Invisalign Inventor Takes Spottiswoode to Brazil

Spottiswoode went on to describe another work trip to Brazil.

I avoided him as much as I could. But I was under increasing pressure from him. I began to worry that, in addition to wanting sex, Chishti wanted to hurt me. He wanted to punish me for rejecting him.

Spottiswoode told the committee that she felt completely trapped and hopeless being far from home.

Spottiswoode described how she was afraid of losing her job and didn’t want Chishti to get any angrier.  She also described how she felt that anyone would protect her. She stated she too tired to argue with him anymore and went to his room where he beat me while having sex with me.

Spottiswoode told members of Congress:

I told him he was hurting me, he said, ”Good”. He told me he should’ve had sex with me when we first met, when I was 13-years-old. I hid in my hotel room until my flight the next day. My body was covered with scratches, cuts, and contusions. I had bruises around my neck that looked like I had been strangled.

I also had a large bump on my head and a black eye. A nurse at the hospital said I had the symptoms of a concussion. Today, I speak here. I am afraid of the consequences for my family that will arise from my speaking out. Also, I have PTSD and nightmares. I used to be a very social person and I no longer am. The person who changed my life forever continues to abuse me because forced arbitration gives him the power to do it in secret.

Afiniti Attempts To Do Damage Control

Afiniti began attempting damage control:

We take any allegations of this nature extremely seriously. Afiniti has investigated Spottiswoode’s claims with independent counsel and concluded that the arbitral decision she references was erroneous. Afiniti’s CEO and chair Zia Chishti strongly disputes all accusations against him. 

Invisalighn Inventor Zia Chishti Has An Interesting Background

Chishti was born in Maine under the name Wilson Lear to an American father and Pakistani mother. He later graduated from Columbia University and got his MBA at Stanford. Chishti got the odea for Invisalign at Stanford.

He went on to work at Morgan Stanley and McKinsey before co-founding Invisalign with Kelsey Wirth.

He then started Afiniti. Afiniti provides artificial intelligence software for managing call centers. According to its website, their technology uses artificial intelligence to identify subtle and valuable patterns of human interaction. It then pairs this information with individuals on the basis of behavior, Thus, leading to more successful interactions and measurable increases in enterprise profitability.’

Public records show Chishti having a wife or other family. He founded Afinity in Washington in 2005. This two years after leaving Invisalign. 

Chishti claims his main address as 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue, just down the block from the White House in Washington. He also claims addresses in California, New York and Maryland.
